The iPhone 15 Pro Max is my first device in the Plus/Max line. While there are pros and cons I will say that the battery life is REAL. I didn't have a 15 Pro, but I did have a 14 Pro and it seems the battery life is similar. I'm ending my normal WFH desk with 80% battery instead of 60%. Apple's 11 hour battery life figure is based on mid brightness and light web use in safari. It's 17 hours if you're just watching Apple TV streams at 1080 SDR. If you drive the machine harder, it will use more battery. In the most extreme case you can tank the battery in just a few hours. The battery life is very good. 7/8 Plus are very close in dimension to the Pro Max. Due to the "edge-to-edge" display on the Pro Max, it would be equivalent of using your 7 plus but reaching the top/bottom left/right bezel constantly. If you are comfortable with it, and pro max is within your price range, then yeah, go for the Pro Max. It also should've been $100-$50 less, as the 13 Pro Max is available from select retailers and ecommerce for a very similar price. 799-849 is way more applicable for practically a reduced iPhone 13 Pro Max. I think with all of those, the 14 Plus could've been a great choice. iOS 17.0.3 unleashed the 15 Pro Max we deserved. Mannnnn iOS 17 was a rough start but having had 17.0.3 for a couple of days, seems to have completely awoken the 15 Pro Max’s super power, aka battery life.
